IT WAS ALL YELLOW

By now it is is old news that Coldplay landed here for one night at The Fillmore. What matters....people are still talking about it. I can say from first-hand experience that driving past there last evening, the line stretched all the way around the block and past the McDonald's despite the heavy rain. People were begging and just hanging around hoping that they could talk their way in..but to no avail.....
Meanwhile, the rest of us here in SF were COMPLETELY unable to get a ticket, even if you spent the preceding Sunday dialing and dialing at 10:00 am to try Ticketmaster...Yet some 1200 lucky individuals found themselves there...all of us leaning on a hope that they would play an additional night---but NO. They are a dizzying foursome who spill out and eke out so much sound amongst them that it takes days to recover one of their shows. Their new work, entitled X&Y, available in early June is greatly anticipated since "Rush of Blood to the Head" in 2002. What took them so long? Another UK-based band from Dublin, Keane will play on Friday night at the Berkeley Community Theater. Their music is even more melancholic and "Everybody's Changing", the title song that put them on the map filled in the gap that was left vacant by Coldplay since 2002. More on that show later. www.keanemusic.com
